Reformer Pilates

Reformer Pilates is a form of Pilates that uses a special machine called a “reformer” to provide resistance and support for a range of exercises. This equipment-based Pilates method is designed to improve strength, flexibility, balance and body alignment, using both springs and your own body weight as resistance.

Here are some key details about Reformer Pilates:
The Reformer Machine: It consists of a flat platform (the carriage) that moves back and forth on wheels, with adjustable springs that allow for varying levels of resistance. There are also foot bars, straps, and pulleys that can be used for various movements.
Benefits: Reformer Pilates helps in building core strength, improving posture, increasing flexibility, enhancing muscle tone, and providing a full-body workout. It also offers low-impact training, which is gentle on the joints, making it accessible to people of all fitness levels.
Versatility: The reformer allows for a wide range of exercises, targeting different muscle groups. Exercises can be done lying down, sitting, standing or in various positions to work different parts of the body.
Customisation: One of the major advantages of the reformer is its adaptability. The resistance and the intensity of the workout can be adjusted to suit individual needs, making it beneficial for rehabilitation, athletes and those new to fitness.
Mind-Body Connection: Like traditional mat Pilates, reformer Pilates emphasises controlled movements, breathing and concentration, making it an excellent form of exercise for improving body awareness and mental focus.
